Yesterday marked a special milestone for the Joburg Tennis Grassroots Foundation as we hosted our very first tennis session with the enthusiastic learners from Troyeville Primary School!
11 excited learners and one teacher made their way to the Ellis Park Tennis Centre, just 950 meters from their school—yet for many, it was their very first visit. Upon arrival, they were welcomed with refreshments before stepping onto the court for an unforgettable introduction to tennis.
From the very first swing, the energy was electric! Some of the kids, despite never having played before, displayed amazing hand-eye coordination and natural talent. Their excitement was contagious, and many promised to spread the word to their friends who missed out.
Even the school principal is fully behind the initiative and is keen to get teachers involved in learning the sport too!
This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see these young players grow on and off the court.
